Plain English summary: Your health data is yours. We store it securely in India, never sell it, and let you delete it anytime. We follow India's DPDP Act 2023 and Telemedicine Practice Guidelines 2020. Doctors in our network are personally verified. Any clinical guidance we provide is informational — not a substitute for a doctor.
1. Who we are
DoctOpinion is a health intelligence platform that helps Indian families get doctor-verified guidance, specialist appointments, and longitudinal health memory on WhatsApp. We are based in India and process all health data within Indian jurisdiction.
2. What data we collect
When you interact with DoctOpinion on WhatsApp, we collect:
- Your WhatsApp number — used to identify you across conversations
- Your messages — symptoms, questions, replies, voice notes
- Profile information you choose to share — age, gender, existing conditions, medications
- Health reports you upload — lab results, prescriptions, scans
- Appointment history — doctors you've consulted via DoctOpinion, slot bookings, outcomes
We do not collect: payment information (no money flows through DoctOpinion at this time), location data beyond what you voluntarily share, contacts from your phonebook, or any data from outside our WhatsApp interaction.
3. How we use your data
- To respond to your health questions with relevant, personalised guidance
- To connect you with the right specialist when needed
- To remember your health context across conversations — so you don't have to repeat yourself
- To send appropriate follow-up reminders (you can opt out anytime)
- To improve our service quality (in aggregate, never tied to your identity)
4. Who we share with
We share your relevant clinical summary only with the doctor you've chosen to consult via DoctOpinion — and only after you've confirmed you want that appointment. The summary contains what's needed for the consultation; nothing more.
We never sell your data, advertise to you based on health information, or share with insurance companies, employers, or third parties without your explicit consent. This is non-negotiable.
5. How we protect your data
- All data is stored on servers located in India
- Encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest
- Access restricted to authorised personnel only, on a need-to-know basis
- Regular backups and security reviews
- Hosted on enterprise-grade infrastructure (DigitalOcean Bangalore)
6. Your rights
Under India's DPDP Act 2023, you have the right to:
- Access your data — email us and we'll send you a copy
- Correct any inaccurate information about you
- Delete your entire DoctOpinion history — sending reset on WhatsApp clears your conversation history; emailing us removes everything permanently
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India
7. Regulatory frameworks we follow
As ABDM (Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission) interoperability and DISHA mature, we will adopt those frameworks where applicable.

In a medical emergency, call 112 (India's national emergency number) immediately. Do not rely on DoctOpinion for emergency response.
9. Doctor consultations
Doctor consultations facilitated by DoctOpinion are conducted by independently registered medical practitioners — not by DoctOpinion itself. Consultations follow India's Telemedicine Practice Guidelines 2020. Clinical responsibility lies with the consulting doctor; DoctOpinion's role is to facilitate the introduction, share relevant context, and remember the patient's history.
10. Children's data
DoctOpinion is intended for use by adults (18+). For children's health, a parent or guardian must use the service on the child's behalf. Special protections apply to children's data under the DPDP Act 2023, and we comply with all such protections.
11. Cookies & tracking
The DoctOpinion website (doctopinion.com) does not use third-party tracking cookies, ad networks, or analytics that profile individuals. We use minimal local storage on your browser only to cache public information (like our doctor directory) for performance.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our service evolves or as regulations change. Material changes will be communicated via WhatsApp to active users and via a notice on this page.
